Pilots Are Urging People to ‘Buy Plane Tickets Like You Bought Toilet Paper’

Airline company pilots are hoping tourists can do them a favor. Which favor, according to social media, is to start hoarding airline tickets just like people were hoarding bathroom tissue.

As Service Insider discussed, pilots seem taking the future of their market into their own hands by pleading with social networks followers to continue to book holidays and airline company tickets to utilize at a later date.

Pulling from the popular style of the Instagram meme page, Man with a Sign, EasyJet pilot Charlotte Dielman published a message to her fans with her indication reading, “Purchase flight tickets like you purchase toilet paper.” She shared it with the hashtags, #SaveAviation, and #InThisTogether.

Captain Chris Pohl, a Virgin Atlantic pilot based in Toulouse, France, followed Dielman’s lead, posting a picture with the same indication. This time, nevertheless, Pohl was using his captain’s uniform and even threw in a few rolls of toilet paper for good measure.

In the caption, Pohl shared, “Imitation is the sincerest type of flattery. I have actually been following @dudewithsign because I started on Instagram and I saw @pilotcharlotte published a comparable message. I put them together to make my own variation.” He added, “Please RE-POST and pass this message to everybody you know, because it’s REAL. We require the world to begin scheduling tickets, which will allow airlines to fill aircraft and get us all flying once again. The only thing holding us back, is you; our loyal customers/passengers, without you, we’re grounded. Let’s get the world flying again.”

Both Pohl and Dielman may be onto something about purchasing flights and accommodations for holidays to utilize at a later date. As Travel + Leisure formerly reported, a number of bucket-list-worthy locations are providing pay now take a trip later offers. That includes cruises to Antarctica and the Galapagos Islands, safaris in East Africa, and even companies offering trip travel plans through the United States.

“Much of my associates have lost their jobs and others, including myself, have uncertain futures,” Pohl shown Business Expert. Of his picture, Pohl explained that it at least brought him a bit of delight in the middle of madness.

“The image was taken at my house in France, leaning forward on my boy’s BMX ramp to highlight the blue sky as he tossed toilet tissue at me,” he stated. “I was only using the top half of my uniform, I was wearing shorts and flip-flops out of shot.”
